Finally some comfy pants!

Monday, January 26, 2009

Yesterday after church me and Bob went to The Motherhood store to get me some pants. I had only had sweat pants to fit in that actually felt OK to wear and a pair of slacks we had gotten for our friends wedding. So we finally got me some jeans and they feel heavenly! LOL

The one pair we got fits so perfect! It makes me feel normal, like i was before i got preggo, they look just like my un-preggo jeans when on, it's awesome! I had to get them no matter what! We also got my first nursing clothing item there too. They had a white nursing undershirt on sale so we grab it :) I'm wearing one of my new jeans tonight... i just have to get use to the feel of them, because with the invisible belly band, it feels like they are going to fall off, but they aren't... it's weird, but they feel good too. No pressure on Anabel anymore.

Tomorrow is our Birthing Center appointment, i almost totally forgot today. It's both me and Bob's day off so it will be nice. Speaking of nice! It was wonderful having Bob be able to go to church with me yesterday. See he got laid off (and is looking for work) so he was able to come! First time in month or so, so it was wonderful!

8 Month Maker.... ZOMGosh!!!

Baby's Prepping for the Journey:
The brain and head are growing these days, but the body is growing even more. Baby's brain is safely protected by the skull, but the skull isn't rigid and hard like yours is, Mom. The skull is flexible so baby can make it through the birth canal and join you in the world!
How your baby's growing:
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.
How your life's changing:
To accommodate you and your baby's growing needs, your blood volume has increased 40 to 50 percent since you got pregnant. With your uterus pushing up near your diaphragm and crowding your stomach, the consequences may be shortness of breath and heartburn. To help relieve your discomfort, try sleeping propped up with pillows and eating smaller meals more often.You may have lower-back pain as your pregnancy advances. If you do, let your caregiver know right away, particularly if you haven't had back pain before, since it can be a sign of preterm labor.Assuming it's not preterm labor that's ailing you, you can probably blame your growing uterus and hormonal changes for your aching back. Your expanding uterus shifts your center of gravity and stretches out and weakens your abdominal muscles, changing your posture and putting a strain on your back. Hormonal changes in pregnancy loosen your joints and the ligaments that attach your pelvic bones to your spine. This can make you feel less stable and cause pain when you walk, stand, sit for long periods, roll over in bed, get out of a low chair or the tub, bend, or lift things.

Starting Birthing Classes

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Thursday me and Bobby started birthing classes at the Life Center here in Ottawa. I really wanted to do the B.Classes at the birthing center but they only offer them on Monday nights and Bobby has a late class on Monday so that would never work (unfortunately). I love the lady that is doing the class with us. She is the only nurse there and she did our first ultrasound too. She is the sweetest lady and a Christian as well (which is always nice). She is happy with my decision to have it at the birthing center. Pretty much everything she taught us in the class i already knew but it's good for Bobby to hear it and be apart of it, so maybe he won't be as scared (LOL yeah right! Right? Hehehe) At the end of the class she worked with us on 'slow breathing', i felt so silly, LOL and Bobby was making a goofy look at me, so it was even harder to be serious. But I do know it is very serious! I think it felt weirder because it was just us three, no other couples... i think if there was other couples doing it and feeling just as odd as us it would have helped, LOL
I'm glad we started them though. She gave me a book, the one that is for the class and I've already read through almost all of it, LOL. Might should not have done that so i wouldn't be bored in the class. Oh well!!!

After the class we went back to the little shop they have and i was able to get some maternity cloths which was awesome! I only have a few sweat pants i can fit into comfortably now and shirts where running thin too. So i was able to get 2 jeans and like 4 shirts. I was surprised they had small shirts cause last time i was there they didn't have any small enough for me and now I'm in medium pants! Can you believe it? I went from xs maternity pants straight to medium, totally bypassed small, LOL. The style of the pants are totally not my thing but at least i have something to wear and they are not horrid.

We also got some adorable little girls cloths there too. Most where Carters brand which is a really nice brand and they where like in new condition so i was excited! I can't wait to dress her up in these pretty little things :)

My Blood Results

The other week i got a call from the midwife Norla at the Birthing Center. She called to tell me about the results of my blood work. She said that they want my iron level at 11 points and it's currently 10.8, so she wanted me to try and eat more things with iron. I asked her how everything else was and she told me it was great and that my sugar was at 86 points which was perfect! So i was really really happy to hear that! I guess i was worried over nothing! I'm pleased with myself. So now i'm trying to eat more iron, which doesn't seem that hard but we will see how good i do in a week when they do another test, lol

Facts:
Are you talking to baby yet? If not, start now. He or she can hear your voice (well, baby can feel the vibrations at least). Until now, he interpreted sounds as vibrations. But this week he can hear actual sounds and will begin to recognize your voice or the music you play. Play your favorite music, read your favorite book, or tell family stories. It doesn't matter what you say or how you say it--baby will love you regardless. After all, you're Mom!

Weighing in at more than three pounds, baby is about half his birth weight. Now that he measures about 18 inches (45 cm) long, you can tell that bones and muscles are continuing to grow along with his organs and brain.
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt.He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Preggo Appointment-o

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Today i had one of my check-ups at the birthing center. They wanted to do a diabete's test of me so i had to eat a 50 carb. breakfast then be down there to get my blood drawn in an hour. Needles *shivers* i hate them! Anyways the lady pocked me in my right arm, got one vial of blood before she said my vein collasped so she had to go to the other arm to get the second vial. Talk about ouchieness, now both my arms are sore and i know atleast the right arm has a brouse :( Oh well, hopefully this will be the last appointment involving needles!

I met another midwife today, Emily, she just got back from maternity leave herself, so she had her little one with her. She felt my stomach and told me right where Anabels head was, then we listened to the heart beat :) she said it was a strong 150 beats. I've gained a total of 17 pounds total so far, so now i'm 112. I asked bob today 'Do i look like i've gained 17 pounds?' I mean i don't think any part of my body has really gotten bigger then my belly, and even that is very compact. My hips have widened but not noticably.... but hey, i'm cool with that! I guess i'm just carrying it well :D Nothing to complain about you know!

30wks facts:

Baby sees the world through rose-colored glasses. Well, actually, through tomato-red colored glasses. Sunlight shines through your tummy into the womb, and your baby can feel the warmth and see the light.

Your little cherub is starting to look more like a chubby little cherub, growing plumper and cuter every day. Her hair is growing thicker on the scalp, and those lashes are lengthening. The hands and feet are now fully formed and baby's head and body are closer to normal proportions. Overall, your baby is beginning to look similar to how she will look at birth--just tinier. To prepare for her big entrance, your baby is now starting to control her own body temperature! Your Body This Week You may begin to feel some significant discomfort now. Weighing more than ever, you may even wonder how much bigger you could possibly get! But your tummy will continue to grow, much faster now than in the previous months, and you'll continue to gain, about one pound (0.5 kg) a week, for at least the next 6 to 8 weeks.

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)See what your baby looks like this week.Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
How your life's changing:

You may be feeling a little tired these days, especially if you're having trouble sleeping. You might also feel clumsier than normal, which is perfectly understandable. Not only are you heavier, but the concentration of weight in your pregnant belly causes a shift in your center of gravity. Plus, thanks to hormonal changes, your ligaments are more lax, so your joints are looser, which may also contribute to your balance being a bit off. Also, this relaxation of your ligaments can actually cause your feet to spread permanently, so you may have to invest in some new shoes in a bigger size.Remember those mood swings you had earlier in pregnancy? The combination of uncomfortable symptoms and hormonal changes can result in a return of those emotional ups and downs. It's normal to worry about what your labor will be like or whether you'll be a good parent. But if you can't shake the blues or feel increasingly irritable or agitated, talk to your doctor or midwife. You may be among the 1 in 10 expectant women who battle depression during pregnancy. Also let your caregiver know if you're frequently nervous or anxious.

Oh so true! I can't imagine her getting bigger at this point! LOL
I feel so good now it literally startles me all the time. Her kicks are so hard and it seems like i can feel her every movement, and she moves like CRAZY! If i put my hand on my belly when she moves i can feel the whole roundness of her legs and everything. She likes to kick like crazy but she also likes to just rub herself up against me, that's when i feel the most and it feels to most freaky! LOL

Helping another little one

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Dad called me the other night, asking if i would help him yesterday with some kids he was baby sitting. It's a family from our church, she has a 2yr old and a baby that is almost 3 months. So I showed up at dads at about 11am yesterday to help him because he said he had no idea what to do with a 3 month old. The kids aren't miss treated per say but more neglected then i like to see kids... especially the baby. Sadly I've heard the mother called the older girl her favorite and everyone's pride and joy... . what she had to say about the baby was literally 'ehhh', as if to say 'nothing i can really say about him'.

When i pulled the cover off of the little boys car seat what i saw was one of the dirtiest outfits, covered from head to toe.... dirty. Dad said he would wash his cloths if i would undress him and i wondered how long it had been since this little one had had a bath, seeing the condition of his cloths, probably a looong time. I asked dad if i could give him a bath and dad was all for that. When i pulled the baby out of the car seat this horrible smell hit me... i mean it was so bad i literally gagged several times while i was trying to undress him.

From his nose up over his whole head was covered in really bad dry skin. It made me mad actually! Everyone should know babies should be lotioned, let alone a black baby! When i got his cloths off i saw that the rest of his body was in the same condition, totally dried out horrid. There was sores on his neck (dad thought from them keeping him in his car seat most of the time) and sores on his inner legs from probably sweat and the diaper rubbing on him. From what we have witnessed (since he is a very calm baby that I've never heard cry) he pretty much lives in his car seat, so dad took the seat apart and washed everything, we washed all the cloths they gave us for them (because those so-called clean cloths still had food stuck to them) and even washed the diaper bag which stank really bad too.

I gave the little one a bath, washed him from head to toe, then lotioned his entire body. I think he liked it. Then i fed him a bottle..... speaking of that, they told dad to fill the bottle 3/4 the way with cereal, then the rest with hot water and 2 scoops of formula... saying you wanted it almost to thick to come out of the nipple O_O said 'he will cry if it's not that thick'.... and he's not even 3 MONTHS yet?!?!!?! Sounded stupid to me! Well dad fixed him the bottle, but not as thick as they told him too. He ate almost the whole bottle, a burped him and he was totally fine.

From what I've personally witnessed from several several different times and situations, i never see this little boy awake. They came over for thanksgiving and i held him the whole time... hours and hours. He would be asleep and she would hand me a bottle to shove in his mouth.... he didn't ask for it wasn't showing any signs of hunger, nothing.... just shoved the bottle in his mouth. They never gave him time to wake up once. And this is a typical thing, I've never seen him awake. My theory is because they feed him sooooo much and the stuff they feed him is like a brick, so it's heavy in his stomach and everyone knows babies with a full tummy tend to sleep.

Well after i fed him i burped him and then started playing with him, and to my surprise he stayed awake the whole time, stared at me, gave me huge smiles. I wondered how much one on one attention he ever got and dad thought hardly any. He enjoyed me allot, watching me and smiling all the time.... it made me sad that his mother probably missed out on allot of that and on top of that with out the interaction they are losing some vital times in his growth and learning.... so sad.

I had to really work the lotion into his face and head, tons of dry skin was coming off, it was so grouse actually. The sad thing was is that i knew the next time i saw him he would be covered in filth again!

It gave me a little confidence though, that i will be able to do this thing... being a mother ^_^ I think i will be able to do it, and be good at it. Finally i feel ok with my abilities. It was the first time i gave a baby a bath and i actually did it right! YAY LOL

Facts:

As baby grows, conditions in the uterus become a little cramped, so there isn't quite as much room to kick those tiny legs or wave those teeny arms. Therefore, you may feel a little less movement now, but that's normal.
Your baby is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.

~~~~
It hit me the other day how close it is until Anna arrives! We have the rest of this month and February to really count on because the midwife said i could have her at the beginning of March even though it is most likely going to be the end. So i don't want to count on March to have time to get things done, because you never know!
I kinda started freaking alittle. I started making all kinds of lists. A list for all the 'have to haves' for the baby and me, packing lists for delivery, a list for things that need to get done (one for me and one for bob). One thing on that list that was at the top was finish my baby registery (which i'm getting farther on now).
One of the biggest things for me was that i wanted to get the house completely done. So we've spent the last few days trying to totally get the house tip top and we are almost there, just got some stuff in the bedroom to fix but that won't take long. We got the office totally done so i'm relieved! We got christmas plastic totes on sale at walmart to organize with, that was awesome (i don't care that there red! works the same!) Bob even let me set up the co-sleeper up next to the bed... he said it was a little reward for our hard work :) hehehe i can't wait till anna will be sleeping it in... and it's not that far away anymore!
27 - 28 wks
Yes everyone! It's a GIRL! Anabel Rose Risch! Can you believe it? Won't it be so wonderful!!!!! *does a crazy happy dance* I'm so excited! Skirts, flowers, dolls, pretty pinks... so much fun!
Christmas turned out great. I got alot of baby stuff and Heidi bought me little girl shoes, saying she wanted to be the first to give me something girly because she thought that the baby was a girl! We didn't end up opening the envelope telling the sex until a day later on Christmas morning, so she had no idea that she was right! After opening the envelope i called almost everyone telling them the great news. It was so exciting! Josh and Renee got us a pack-n-play which is totally awesome! I'm so glad to check that off my list because that was something i was going to buy if no one bought it for me, so it's awesome that i got it!
27wks info:
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle
28wks info:
Baby's eyes started to open, and now they can open and close regularly.
Regardless of what color your eyes or Dad's eyes are, baby's eyes likely will be blue. Eye color doesn't change until several months after birth.
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can open and close her eyes, which now sport lashes. This movement is more of a reflexive blink than a deliberate opening and closing, but it won't be long before she's batting those beauties at you.
The week after Christmas:
Yeah kinda been an uber sucky week! This last Saturday I started feeling bad, then Sunday it started hitting me and I spent the whole day on the love seat. Then Monday I was suppose to work 2-cl but Sunday night I couldn't sleep at all because I was so sick and my whole body ached like crazy. At about 3am I woke bob up (which actually he was awake cause I was tossing and turning so much he couldn't sleep) I had him bring the living room chair into the bedroom, propped pillows up and put his back massager on it (his Christmas present from me). I don't know, I might have gotten like 30min – 1 hour of sleep, maybe! Next morning I was almost in tears, stressed, totally tired, and in a lot of pain. Jess was suppose to come over for breakfast and to exchange gifts but 10am. Bob left early to my work because he wanted to exchange a mug we had bought there... he mentioned to bill that I was really really sick and that I was going to try to find someone to work for me that day and that if no one could, that we both would be in so bob could help me with my work. Bill told him for me to try and find someone but even if I couldn't, not to come into work at all. So in the end I did get someone to cover for me thank goodness and I called him to let him know, I asked when I worked next and bill said Fri 12-4pm.... so I was relieved because I felt so bad and didn't know when I would be better.
I had to also call my midwife right after I got off the phone with him because we had an appointment at 8am up there in Topeka but bob thought because I was sick, that they wouldn't want to see me cause I was suppose to get blood drawn. Well he was right, they just rescheduled my appointment.
We had a pretty good time with jess sept that I was sick so I couldn't enjoy it near as much. Jess ended up making the pancakes because I felt to weak to stand by the stove for that long. We played some uno, which would have been uber fun if I didn't feel like crap. Jess said she had a bunch of movies we could barrow so she ended up stopping back by later that day to drop some movies off, which was AWESOME cause I totally needed something to take my mind off the pain. We ended up watching like 6 movies or so, LOL. I slept in the living room floor and it was awful!!!!! But because of the floor, no that was better then the bed, the problem was that my arms started cramping like crazy.... I mean horrid and wouldn't let up all night long!!! I ended up waking bob up (around 4am) and asking him to massage my arms (balling my eyes out)... that felt good but didn't take the pain away.... then we went to the tub. I soaked my arms in the hot water while bob sat next to the tub, rubbing my arms and he also put the vaporizer on because I was really congested.... the tub really didn't work either so I went back to the floor/bed and bob put a movie on, and set the heating pad up for my arm that hurt the worst... I slept on and off through the movie... maybe an hour or 1.5 hours crying all in between cause the pain was so horrid. I ended up waking up and watching the end of the movie... by that time it was already almost 8am and I wasn't going to get any more sleep cause bob had to get up and go to his mom and dads house to do the chores. See Tuesday-Thursday we were suppose to house sit cause they were going on a trip to see grandma. Anyways bob left and was back before I knew it, cause I actually slept while he was gone. That day (Tuesday) was the last day on our coupon for the build a bear that jess had given as I gift to get the baby a bear.... bob asked if I was up to going out and getting the bear... my sickness part of it was a lot better but my body was really weak and achy and my arms still hurt... despite that I wanted to get out of the house because I had been in it by myself and sick since Friday (5 days) I told bob that we could, but we would have to take lots of breaks to let me rest. We went up and did the bear then came home.
We made a girl monkey that was pink. We got a shirt, a little skirt and even shoes for the monkey. It is adorable! Now we have alittle monkey family, cause see i already had a boy monkey that we had made at the build-a-bear workshop..... they are really cute!
This is what the monkey's look like:
