Prep For Football Season

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

So don't know if i have mentioned this before or not but the football season is coming up soon, meaning i will be expected to show up to as many games as possible since my Hubby is a coach. I have been very very stressed about this. I have had a difficult time in the past years trying to do this with my little girls.

If you can picture me, lugging a double stroller, two big fold-able stadium seats, a huge diaper bag, and a couple blankets all by myself... i'm sure i was a pitiful sight... i sure felt pitiful.

I desperately wanted to change this for this next year... i want to make so much easier on myself.

I have been working on travel activities to help entertain my girls, yet make it easier on me like this one here:

A writing pad and color pencils all connected together so no loose pencil can be thrown, ect. I am also making a homemade iSpy book which is coming along nicely (I think). Also thinking of making clips for there sippy cups so they can;t be thrown.... you know when kids are bored and upset about sitting for so long, they like to throw things, at least mine does (it so embarrassing too!).

Another thing i was going to do was make another diaper bag where i could easily organize my items in pouches, hoping that would eliminate things spilling from my bag when i try to fish something out and so on. Well i got stressed because it looked no matter which way i tried to design my bag, it was going to end up pretty big.... and the last thing i want is to lug another big item!!!

But something came to me! You remember this thing i made:

It's a fold-able stadium seat i sewed the child straps on so keep my kiddos locked in (Kinda like a highchair at the games) These things were amazing and such a bright idea i had.... still it is a big thing to lug, but it does make the game so much nicer! These chairs are even so wide that my tiny girls can share one and still be locked in, which has came in handy when my friend wanted to use one for her son, so my back was getting tired and i wanted one.

Ok back to my breaking idea. I remembered these bags had a pouch on them.

These pouches are on the back of the seat once is it unfolded. When folded there is a flap that goes over the pouch and clips together. I got the bag out and figured out that these pouches can hold most of the items i would be putting in the diaper bag. Now I think i will need to add in another clip so when the seat is opened and strapped into the stadium, the pouch won't hang open all odd.... but i already figured that out and it should be very simple! Only need to some strapping and clips.

So this will bring me down to only needing a bag for sippy cups and treats. Which shouldn't be very big at all!

Now on to another one of my issues.... blankets! During the football season it is only nice for a few of the games and it quickly turns south, getting chilly, then into terribly cold.

Lugging blankets = Not fun and such a headache!

See my oldest is a major blanket hog. She loves cuddling in blanket, but boy no one else better share that blanket or there is pulling and screaming and ... ugh! Of course she gets in trouble for this, but really at the games i am already stressed enough with other things, in no way do i want to be correcting her every couple of minutes. Also blankets on those stadium chairs is really not that easy, there is to many gaps where the wind blows through, and blankets fall off way to easily when you are dealing with children.

So i came up with what i think is a great idea. You ever see one of those blanket pouches that fit on car seats  to keep the baby all snug and warm inside and where they can't wiggle it off? Well i plan on making one for the seats. A blanket pouch that clips onto the seats that they can't kick off and there is no gaps for wind to blow through. Of course i will have to come up with something for myself but still.... hmm maybe i could make one for myself? LOL

Shingle Duty And Rolling Hills

Monday, July 23, 2012

Hubby put me on shingle duty today. He gave me a quick crash course in how to paint them and then let me at it. It gave me such a headache cause i was so stressed out i would ruin everything. Still i don't think i did as good as Hubs but i think i did ok... it's passable.

Hubby then went out and put together the sink of the three part kitchen set he will be making for the girls. It's ready for some sanding and then paint.

Then to get out of the heat he came in and started on the mural part of the room. These are his rolling hills:

I'm so proud of him ^_^

Shingles

Here's a snippet of Hubs shingles he's working on. I think they look awesome!

Base Coats Up On The Playroom

I'm stopping to take a break while Hubs does some artsy painting.

Here is some progress pictures. We got the base color of the sky and land up. Later Hubby will go back and get all artsy by adding detail.

This is the second closet the one i hop to make a stage out of. We was really terrible looking so i wanted to make it look like the first closet in the room which i had painted. So to match the other, this one will be painted white. I ran out of the latex paint so i will have to finish it out with some oil based. All of the bottom (from the wood plank down) has two coats sept the trim. So the trim and the top is all that needs to be done i believe.

This is the cottage section. Hubs is working on the dark wood planks. He's using two tones to give it that wood effect. I have a feeling it will look really nice. Can't wait to peel the tape off later today. Then Hubs will go back once it's all dry and add some shingles to the very top.
Yeah to free paint by the way, the planks are all out of the free paint we got at the e-waste. Woot woot! We probably wouldn't have been able to do this is we had to buy all of at the store. Paint is so expensive! We did have to buy the light tan, the sky blue and the land green. But we were able to pick up a lot of other colors for details.

My Hubby's A Dear

Hubby got up this morning and got the girls out of their room when they woke up. He then shut the bedroom door (i was having a hard time wanting to move). I didn't know if that meant he was ok with me staying a sleep or not, so i laid there a few minutes and then finally got up. When i got down stairs Hubby informed me he had meant for me to stay in bed a bit longer because he knew how much i had kicked my butt working yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised. So he scooted me back up stairs and told me to turn on a movie or something and sleep or rest, whatever.

He hadn't known that when i had woken up with the girls started making noise, i had just came out of really deep sleep and a dream and i hadn't felt ready to get up. It was so nice for him to send me back up. I did turn on a movie but since i had already gotten up i didn't feel like i could fall back asleep. I laid there with my eyes closed for about 30min until i felt much more awake and ready to start my day.

Hubs didn't know it but he blessed me greatly! It was so nice to wake up slowly... something i use to think i needed before my kiddos came along. Before kids i actually had three alarm clocks i would set each one 15min differently so i would get 30min to wake up slowly before starting my day. I forgot how good that felt! (don't worry baby i won't get to use to it hehe)

I love my man <3 He's the greatest!

Now on to kicking some more butt today!

I had my latte so i think i'm ready to go paint some more while Hubs goes and puts his money in the bank and goes and buy wood for the girls kitchen set he plans on making.

Playroom Progress

Friday, July 20, 2012

We achieved our goal for today. Got paint bought and also picked up some free paint from the e-waste. AND by this evening we had the primer up on the walls. So nice not to see drywall anymore!

We will get the base coats of the sky and grass up tomorrow and i might even get most of the cottage up and painted. At least that is a hope.

So excited!

Thanks Bobby for all your hard work. It was fun working beside you last few days :)

I adore doing projects with my Hubby, one of things we have in common.

The Playroom Plans

Our inspiration is going to be Thumbelina and fairies. Where we will add toadstools and cottage

Cottage section:

So the wall and the playhouse will be painted like the inspiration cottage picture as in it will have the planks painted. I will be making curtains for the many windows.
Hopefully i can get Bob to cut and arched door for the play house and make it and a working door.

The mural section:

So Bob plans on painting a mural complete with a tree that ends up spreading over the tops of both of the closets, toadstools, flowers and fairies. In that tree he's going to try and add shelving that is camouflaged into the branches. The shelves could store books, or little fair figurines if i have my way. LOL

In that closet you see there in the left corner, i would really like to make a little performing stage. A curtain would hang there and all there dress up cloths would be stored back there, where they could change and pretend all they want.

That's the plan at the moment anyways. I'm just hoping we can get it painted and the kitchen set built before school starts up again... i might be dreaming

July 4th Picture Redo

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

I decided to look up some editing techniques and play around with my pictures. This was an effect that was suppose to mimic a certain type of exposure process done when developing pictures, but i forgot what it was called. I liked the effect :)

Now That Is What I Call Success!

Friday, July 6, 2012

I dubbed this day 'The Day Of Laundry'. That right there is 9 laundry baskets. 9 baskets that were full of folded clean cloths that i lugged up two flights of stairs and put away. (Ok Bob did one cause it was to heavy for me but you get the point)

Of course this shows you that i am a major procrastinator when it comes to putting laundry away. Sure i do laundry all the time and generally it gets folded and put on my laundry counter down in the laundry room and sometimes it gets sorted into baskets... but rarely ever put away. Today i decided i wanted to empyt out my laundry room and finally get the cloths put away.

First that meant doing a mondo pile of ironing which had been an overflowing basket full of cloths.

It also included me going through my basket of cloths that had been separated because of stains. I went through them and threw away the cloths that were to far gone and then soaked the others in a stain remover solution in a wet pail.

So far today i've done 4 loads of laundry while working so i'm getting a small pail of clean cloths again on my laundry counter which sorta makes me happy because that means i'm getting the laundry done... but also a tad bummed because i have worked all day to get that area/counter cleared and now i'm adding more to it. LOL Oh well i know this is something that is inevitable and also that means i just need to keep up with getting the stuff put away too.

I had made it my personal rule not to take out a load of laundry out of the drier without folding it right then and there.... maybe i should to add 'putting it away' right in there as well hehe.

Also this morning i did my work out for 51 minutes that said i burned about 212 calories. Then with all this walking and lugging stuff up stairs my legs are sour and cramping like crazy but even though i am quite a bit of pain, i know that it is because i am getting such a workout today.... also goes to prove i am completely out of shape >_<

So today you learned: I am completely out of shape & that i rarely ever put laundry away.
LOL haaaa well i'm being real!

Mondo Ironing Complete!

Ugh so glad to have that done and out of my laundry room. As you can see... i don't iron much LOL but now it's totally done.... at least for a few day o.0

In preparation i set up my laptop in front of me and while i ironed i got caught up on my 'Table Top' episodes on youtube... so i was entertained by others having fun LOL

Haaa now to lug all this up stairs along with the other 7 baskets of clean and folded cloths to put away >_< Going up and down the stairs will not be fun especially since i worked out for an hour today and my legs are all cramping hehe. BUT at least my laundry room will almost be bare! That's always a plus! Especially since i'm starting up on the 'Flylady' routines again come Monday.

Bed Has Arrived!

Thursday, July 5, 2012

Our bed finally made it :) Boy is it COMFY! Only bummer is that my new special pillow wasn't on the delivery truck. It wasn't on the invoice but it was on our receipt, so Bob called and tried to get them to overnight it. Long story short i probably won't get my pillow till next week :( Oh well.... at least Bob has his new one.

We have decided to pile in on our bed and watch a movie with the girls tonight. I didn't want to get off the bed but i figure i should cause i am the dinner maker hehe.

Bob is already thinking on bed frame ideas but i know that probably won't get done any time soon lol
