A Wonderful Dream

Thursday, July 25, 2013

I’m known to have vivid elaborate dream. Most of the time they are rather dark and scary and leave me with a terrible feeling. I have died in dreams, been shot in several of them. Shot in the head and had this gushing, warm feeling as the blood ran down the back of my head and neck and saw everything blew and start to turn black. The thoughts of what lies ahead and how i’m about to find out any second as i die. Usually if death is in my dreams so is thoughts of being with God in the after life. I remember this dreams and how it felt as if i had it last night.

Some of my best dreams have been about the Lords return. When i was a teen i dreamt of Jesus coming down and me running outside my house, worried that he would leave me. Asking him to please take me and him saying back to me ‘You have a choice’ and i knew this meant i could repent and choose to go with him or turn my back on him. I remember running towards him and yelling ‘I want to go with you!’.

Then this last year i’ve had one of the rapture starting to take place. The nights sky being filled with waves of beautiful colors…. colors that then turned to fire. I was sitting, watching in awe and excitement, holding the hand of my husband, waiting for when it would be time to go up to heaven. I woke up before that happened though.

Then last night i’ve had one of the best dreams to this day:

I was walking in a hospital, in a hall lined with floor to ceiling windows. I stopped and turned to look out the window just as a loud bang sounded. Suddenly huge mounds of hail filled the street that lay outside the window, i mean like 2-3 feet of hail, huge balls of it.

Within a split second all the hail turned into a massive flock of beautiful white doves.

flock_of_doves copy

And within a second more the doves took off leaving a dense layer of flying white feathers whirling about.

stock-footage-falling-feathers

I focused my eyes and peered into the fog like feathers to see a figure walking through them. I knew who it was! I couldn’t make him out well but i said aloud ‘Take me with you!’

Jesus reached out his hands and all of a sudden i started flying towards him as though being sucked through the window at a very fast speed. I came towards him and then was being propelled up into the sky.

Just then it started to rain and i was traveling against the rain at an incredibly fast speed.

drops copy

I remember just saying Jesus' name over and over and thanking him and praising him. I was so excited and my heart was beating a million miles and hour. I remember thinking ‘This is it!’ With such excitement and joy.

Then…. for a split second i wondered if i was dreaming or was i really going to see heaven?

Then i woke up.

But when i woke up my WHOLE body was on pins and needles… like every inch of you had fallen asleep. It was the weirdest feeling.

It makes me want to cry thinking about the dream. Oh how i want to go to heaven and be with Jesus and all my loved ones!

Not sure why i have dreams like these. Usually my dreams come from things i’ve watched recently or thought about…. but honestly i haven’t thought about the rapture lately. Oh well. I will remember this one forever :)

Today's Harvest 7-22-13

Monday, July 22, 2013

Me and Matthew went out to the garden while the girls and Daddy napped.
It rained this morning... always love days I don't have to water the garden!

Now we have enough cucumbers to make some more pickles and enough zucchini for zucchini bread muffins.... maybe I will make just a loaf instead of muffins? I do hate washing the muffin tins and filling those annoying little cups but muffins are way more convenient especially to thaw when frozen.... hmmmm

26 Piece Doctors Kit Made!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

So today i finished up the kits by doing a tad bit of sewing on the doctors shirt and printing off her ID badge.

I sewed the color back because Dad said that is how doctors shirts are and then i sewed the organizer on there. I admit i was expecting the shirt to be made out of the regular button down short material but the shirt actually it more like a t-shirt type material, so the organizer stands out more then i thought it would. Uber picky Bob said he thought it looked fine so I'm relieved. Bob wasn’t so hip on the homemade kit idea because he thought the doctors shirt would look stupid so with him actually approving this, it make me happy. Now I'm the one not so hip on the organizer since it stands out as a different white. But after all it is just play right?

I threw a sweater on Abby and took a quick picture of her for her ID picture. Yes she is wearing a princess outfit under the sweater hehe. Look how long her hair is? She is just to cute!

So here is the kit:

It will end up being a 28 piece once the reflex hammer and the nurses watch for the doctor shirt. But looks like she will have to wait on those things.

Abby’s Present (4)

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

So this morning i made a run over to the Salvation Army in hopes of finding some sort of bag or container that would work for a doctors bag for Abby’s doctors kit. It was so nice because i got to go all by myself, no kiddos in toe. Haaaaa

I got really stressed out because i could find a bag that would work and i was trying to brain storm about how i could take one of the bags with a good basic shape and then recover it. I knew i didn’t want to try and make a bag from scratch because me and sewing bags don’t have a very good history together.

Then when i gave up i saw out of the corner of my eye, a black lunch box for $4.50.

20130709_160625-1

I thought it was the perfect thing! I got so excited and soooo relieved! I didn’t know what i was going to do if i didn’t find something.

While i was at the Salvation Army i looked through the scrubs section. All red tags were 50% off today and i found a scrub with a red tag! Ended up costing $1.25 for it.

So i bought it and after getting home i went to work on it to make it smaller.

So it here is it originally:

Then cut down:

And finally sewn:

It actually was really easy and fast to do. So far this project has been easy.

Anabel trying it on for me:

So now i have a soon to be doctors outfit and a nurses outfit :)

Also i took our ACE bandages and cuts them and added some more velcro so she actually has 4 bandages.

I got the syringes put through the dishwasher. Also found and empty pill bottle.

Can’t wait for the stuff i ordered to come in the mail tomorrow so i can get to work on them and finish this sucker!

Chore Rewards & Cleaning Caddy

Monday, July 8, 2013

I haven’t figured a permanent home for these yet but it will be something like this. I will have the magnets sorted in jars for easy finding and putting them up. I’m hoping to do something to get the ticket rolls hung on the wall but i’m not sure. The girls were so excited today to get a few tickets from things they have done the last few days. The tickets were here yet then so i told them as soon as they come that they would be able to put their earned tickets into their jars.

20130708_154142-1

Also one of the caddy’s came today (Anabel’s). Abby’s should come tomorrow i think. This is just a few of the things i have for each caddy. I need to get a couple more items.

Abby’s Present (3)

Today i was able to whip these suckers out. It was easy and went quick. I tested them on Anabel and they fit her, so hopefully they will fit Abby just as well. I made two so both girls could play if they wanted. Maybe one a doctor and the other the nurse :)

20130708_132336

THEN yesterday i had this idea about x-rays. I looked online to see if they sold any but they didn’t. I mentioned to Bob my idea and how i was bummed they didn’t have any and that i was thinking of just printing some on regular paper since it was play.

Then he said '”I have a ton of that kind of paper at school, you get me the pictures and i could print a few off'”

And i was like ”OMGosh!!! And we could use them on the light table i made!!!!”

So i found some and he brought them home this morning:

Abby’s Birthday Present (2)

Sunday, July 7, 2013

Made her a name tag tonight for her doctors outfit. I hope it prints and looks good.

nametag copy Might have to make my own title instead of copying those words off a real hospital logo because right now the words look a little blurry. We will have to see.

Abby’s Birthday Present (1)

So for awhile now i knew i wanted to get Abby a pretend doctors kit. She would try and put a rag over her mouth and come to me saying ‘I’m a doctor!’ and pretend her dolls were hurt.

Well like usual i kept forgetting i needed to order it for her for her birthday. So last night i remembered and got on Amazon (were i tend to do all my non grocery shopping since we have a prime account and the amazon credit card which earns us 3x the amounts of points if we use the credit card on amazon…. so earning free money is always a plus)

Well i found small cheap kits for like $15-18 and there was an ok one for $25. Then there was the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Kit that was normally $79 marked down to $39. Came with a doctors costume plus the doctors kit. We thought we were going to do that. I started reading reviews on the items because i try to read everything and look at everything before i make a choose. One comment mentioned they decided to buy a kit with a real stethoscope instead of one that made fake sounds. So i started looking for kits with real ones cause i thought that was a great idea. Didn’t find a pretend kit with one in it but i did find real stethoscopes for WAY cheaper then i would have imagined them to be.

So this got me thinking… could i find real doctor/nurse items and make my own kit for about the same price or cheaper? Oh the searching rolled on.

After three hours and it being almost 1am i had finally pieced together my own kit. I’m still lacking a doctors bag to carry it all in but i think i will stop in the thrift stores and see if i can find something that will work.

First here is a glimpse of the pretend kit i almost bought:

61UzlnEhS5L._SL1200_

Here is what i pieced together:

First the outfit:

I bought a plain white button down shirt. I know it’s not as fancy but i’m hoping to use my skills and make it a little more like a doctors shirt. Like my husband mentioned, a doctors shirt would have a lower collar so i’m hoping to fix that. I bought it as a 4t, so it will be kinda big on her but i thought that was kinda the point and this way Anabel can use it and they still have some growing room in it.

shirtThen i found this:

organizer  It is a ‘Medical Organizer Kit’ which is suppose to slide onto a belt loop for nurses. Well since it is fabric i’m planning to sew it onto the bottom of the doctor shirt for extra pockets like the Melissa and Doug shirt kinda has. I think the girls will love the pockets and clips on it.

It also comes with: ‘Diagnostic Penlight, Pen, Scissor, Keys and Other Accessories’

I will take the scissors out of it because that is not a toy. But the Penlight i think they will LOVE

Then:

watch This is a ‘Nurse Pin Brooch Pocket Watch’ I’m guessing this is to count for blood pressure or something but i thought it would add some flare to the outfit.

I also plan on sewing a couple face masks, so both girls could play…. one the doctor and one the nurse maybe? Anyways they should be uber simple to make.

I also grabbed this:

nursenancybook I thought this book would be great to include… give them some ideas for play :)

Now on to the kit!

stethReal pediatric sized stethoscope and blood pressure band. Now i might have to poke a whole in the blood pressure band so they can’t get enough air in there to make it to tight on the arm… we will have to test that out. I’m so excited about these two pieces!

reflexhammer Real reflex hammer. Says it’s 7in big and rubber hammer head. Bob was a little worried about this but i’m sure if the girls can learn how to use a hot glue gun like they have been, then they can learn about this…. but we will see how hard it is before we give it to them.

thermomAnd a real thermometer.

I was looking at baby health kits like this one:

51JYh zBgvL._SL1000_But i remembered i have multiples of most all this stuff (except the thermometer) and could spare a set for the kit. I also have a ton of medicine syringes from child medicines that i will give her as play needles.

Then we have ACE bandages from Bob’s football days so i think i will cut a few down to child size and sew some velcro on the ends to make them be able to clasp and that way they will have plenty of bandages.

I’m hoping she will love this and it will turn out as cool as i’m picturing it. Real tools! And it costing just as much as these kits i was going to buy that were all plastic!

Oh i hope it’s cool! I got such a headache trying to figure it all out…. hope i made good choices!

Chore Chart (4)

Making progress!!!!

Since i last posted about the charts we have done quite a bit. With a young baby and a total of three kids now, i’m finding it harder to find the time to sit down and post about things. My coupon blog especially is suffering from neglect.

Anyways Hubby built the frames for the charts and cut the metal to size. Then we had the girls mix their own colors (with my help of course) and we painted the frames.

20130627_120426 20130627_121336 20130627_122723 20130627_123638 20130627_150857

All the frames in the house are black and we wanted them to match but also be unique, so we spray painted them black and then are using sand paper to age the frames and sand the black off till the color pops through.

Then Bob used a paint pen and drew the rid onto the metal.

20130628_152406-1

today i worked on getting the magnet stripes onto the backs of the magnets we made. I started out using gorilla glue but the one we bought said it needed to sit for 24 hours for it to be done, so instead i switched to super glue and it made the job MUCH faster. I used up all the magnet stripes this afternoon and almost got magnet onto all the backs. Good thing i have already ordered more magnet strips and they will be here by Tuesday. Woot!

20130706_152825

The very last row on the right still does not have magnets on them but everything to the left of it does. I’m so excited!

Here is a glimpse of Matthew’s finished board after being sanded and a few of the magnets on there. I wanted more of a pop of color and i might have been able to achieve that if we would have bought spray paint colors but we were trying to save money and use the stuff we had.

20130706_152914

Also along with the magnet stripes i ordered i ordered the reward tickets the girls will earn.

31D-Kz2bD4L 41XAGq0ixLL

The yellow (neutral) tickets will be worth the lowest and the pink will be worth more. I have blue tickets saved on amazon for when Matthew gets old enough to do it i will order the blue ones and they will be the worth more for him. I knew the girls would love the pink so i needed to have a boy color too.

I have saved some small espresso cans and i plan on taking them and helping the girls custom design the out side of them and those will be their personal ticket jars to keep their earned tickets in.

And just today the girls earned their first reward tickets. Me and Bob spent time trimming the vines on our back fence and it left a big mess of limbs on the ground. So we asked the girls if they wanted to earn some tickets by picking up the limbs for us and putting it in the big trash can. They both were uber excited to earn tickets and said yes. They picked up all the limbs with out much coxing to finish. It was a big job so i think they will get at least 2 tickets which normal chores will only earn 1.

We still have to sit down and figure out how many tickets for which prizes and figure out a points system.

Then along with that order i got these:

51D6pjgzhzL._SL1250_

51zG4Or5IAL._SL1250_

I was reading a site about chores and this lady made up cleaning totes for each of her kids. So i looked on amazon and found this small cleaning totes in bright colors. I got Anabel pink to match her chore chart and Abby purple to match hers.

I’ve already bought small hand brooms and dust pans for them, dusters and small spray bottles which i will make up a mild homemade cleaning solution up for them. Some other things i’m thinking about getting for their cleaning kits are some disinfecting wipes, lint roller and a rag. The rag i’m hoping to get a pink and purple one… then i think i am going to fold it over and sew the edge so it becomes almost a glove to it’s easier to wipe things.

I’m hoping this will make cleaning chores more fun for them.

On a side note i posted about making year memory books for the girls.

PhotoGrid_1372082239021-1

They are binders that you keep their art and such in them. Well i also bought some 4x6 picture protectors that go in a binder and i got super excited. Now i’m able to slide pictures from the year in there as well. With this same amazon order i was able to get 200 more page protectors (since i’ve already ran out of the ones i had because Anabel colors so much). Page protectors are not cheap but i was able to get the 200 for the same price as about 100 of them at wal-mart so i was super happy!
