Early Anniversary Weekend

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

We decided to use this weekend to celebrate our Anniversary because it was the only weekend that Bob was going to have more then one day off. Mom and Dad watched the girls for us from mid Friday to sometime today on Tuesday. A very long free weekend for us. While i enjoy being able to ship them off so we can get a break and rest, i am ready to get my babies back. I miss them very much! Every time i saw a child the whole weekend it made me want to see my girls.

We had a blast on our weekend though!

It started out with going to see Battleship Friday night here in town. I enjoyed the movie, it was good. Then we headed out to go eat dinner.... which was the one mishap this whole weekend. We decided to try Belle Casa here in town, an Italian place. I had looked up reviews on restaurants in town and this one seemed to get high reviews. We had attempted to go to this place before on one of our date nights but when we pulled up and i saw the place i got creeped out to we had left. This time i decided to suck it up and at least try it. That was short lived! To make a long story short, we sat down, ordered and while talk i noticed something crawling on the back of Bobs booth that made my stomach turn. I showed Bob, we both decided to leave. He sent me to the car while he went and told them to cancel our order. Neither of us wanted to be eating at a place with roaches, let alone a place bad enough that they were out and about on the chairs!

My stomach was to badly turned so we took a break from the thought of food for a moment and headed to Dillon's to order me 20 Sundrop Sodas for my rain checks that still hadn't came in. Then we felt good enough to go somewhere else to eat. After that our Pastor and his wife asked if we wanted to go to like Sonic and just sit outside and hang out, so we did. We stayed up till really late just talking and laughing and having a good time.

Next morning we got up fairly early and headed out for a day on the town in Wichita. First stop was the farmers market in old town. That was fun :) Got some fancy noodles and some homemade soap!

Then our day continued... we went to a coffee shop, antiques stores, garage sales, thrift stores, craft stores, some pretty awesome restaurants and a museum. We went to a little cafe that had been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, sooooo yummy! It was a ton of walking and my legs were killing me by days end but we had a blast!

Then Sunday we had a great service. Afterwards we went out to Olive Garden for some awesome and free food thanks to Jessica for our gift cards and then we walked around the World Market there in town before headed home.

Once at home i went out and watered my garden, helped Bob put our shade sail back up and he got the wasp trap put up. Then i had seen this picture a long time ago and wanted to do something like that to our fence. Since i managed to buy citronella tea light candles at the World Market we were able to do it.
We got 5 of these suckers put up but we will need a couple more to satisfy me hehe. Looks great though!

By the time we were done outside it was about time to load up in the car and go to the drive in movie theater for our free movie thanks to the church renting out the place for the church. We got to watch the Avengers there, it was pretty sweet!

Then yesterday we just pretty much relaxed here at home. We rented a couple red boxes and watched them. While watching the movies i got to go through my great find i got at a thrift store. They had a bag full of jumbled sewing notions for sale for $3.50. I scoped out the bag and just from what i could i see there was well over $3.50 worth of stuff in the bag. Little did i know until i got into the bag at home that it was a major steal!!! Tons of elastic, mostly until opened, tons of eyelets, tons of good zippers... lots of lace trimmings and measuring tapes, sewing needles... the list goes on. Love those kinds of find! I was just thinking the other day when i was using a ton of my eyelets, which i had purchased at a garage sale, that i wished i could hit the jackpot like i did back then at that garage sale and find another sale with a ton more eyelets.... well i did :) Woot woot!

Then yesterday night the church had a church bbq instead of doing the bible studies on Sunday. So we headed out there. We ended up playing wiffle ball out in the field and yes i attempted to play. I did get on a base a couple times but never scored. At least i tried! LOL

Haaa a really nice weekend!

Now today they girls will be home so i better go in and eat and get to working on the house some... it's not to bad thanks to all my cleaning right before the weekend but there is some dishes and stuff to do.

Can't wait to see my girls!!!! :D

Full Day :)

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Today was good but long! I woke up when Bob got up at 6am and i didn't feel like i could go back to sleep so i got up, Anabel followed shortly and then Abby a few minutes afterwards.

Since i started a schedule for myself things are started to go more smoothly around here. I haven't followed the schedule every day but i have tried. One thing is that i started doing baths in the mornings. I know most would say that baths should be and night before bed but with the girls and their crazy hair, it just works out better to do baths int he morning so i can fix their hair nicely. Plus they are girls and typically they don't get very dirty. On days like today where they were dirty i just wiped them down with a rag before bed and they will wait till tomorrow for baths.

So came the hour i had marked as 'flylady flight plan'. Love that site... it helps kick my butt into gear and it gives you things to do that don't take a lot of time but really is great things you need to do. Today's was 'Master Bedroom' and the task was 'under the bed'. So like most days i go a tad further. I pushed my bed to the side, swept all under it and mopped the entire floor counting under the bed. I also went in and totally cleaned Hubby's closet and mopped it and did the same to my closet, and made our bed. So it looks really good. I peaked ahead to tomorrow and tomorrows task is wiping all door jams and base boards.... it's things like that that i never would have thought of but they are great ideas! That's why i love that site! My Sis got me started on it :) Thanks!

Then after that my friend txt me and said she was heading to the park in a few minutes with her son and wanted to know if we might want to join her. Since we were all bathed, dressed and hair done (because of my lovely schedule) we were able to throw on our shoes and head out.

We got to the park about 10:30am and didn't leave till about noon. Then we came home and since the girls saw several people having pic-nics they asked to have one too. So i took their play table out on the front porch and we had our little pic-nic out there.

Then it was nap time. During nap time i watched a couple shows while i browsed the web, then i decided to actually do something. I had found a neat site about making a 'Quiet Book'. Her idea's where really good, plus i had bought a box of felt years ago at a garage sale and had never used any of it. I don't have all the fabric i want but i had enough to do this:

This is for counting (DUH right hehe) When the girls got up my littlest loved scooting the beads but my oldest was really into counting them. It was so nice to see her playing with it. I think it's a great toy, plus something i can use to help her practice her counting. I'm looking forward to making others that i can use as a learning tool.

After all that i took the girls in the back yard. My oldest took her toy watering can and helped me water my garden, she loved that. Then i ended up sweeping the patio and hosing off the outdoor carpet out there which was covered in grass clippings from the lawn being mowed a few days ago. The girls loved playing in the water that drained off the carpet.

It feels like a lot was jammed into this day. Usually i don't think i get all this done. The schedule i think really helps.

Now to start again tomorrow :)

Playing In The Sprinkler

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Yesterday we noticed the grass was greatly needing some watering so i decided i would make it fun :) The girls LOVED it and boy did they sleep good that night! Usually i have to make trip upon trip up stairs to get Anabel back in her bed and try to go to sleep but that night i didn't have to make one trip at all!!! It was nice :)

Those bathing suit will probably get a lot of were this summer. Bad thing was i don't know what was going on with me (it wasn't very hot outside) but just being out there i started to feel uber sick. It was bad. But i got some water and food in me and that helped a lot.

Need to remember to drink gobs of water this summer and that especially goes for the kiddos!

A New Purchase

So Bobby let me splurge. I was looking at some Asian clothing and showing him the stuff i liked to see what we both mutually liked. He really liked these dresses and i said i wanted to own them one day... he told me to go ahead and order it and said 'Happy Anniversary' LOL
($2.38)
Got the black belt to go with this white (multi colored) sun dress.
 ($6.92)

Then....
In white (wish i could have gotten one of every color!)
($2.59)

The white belt goes with the pinkie sun dress
($7.39)

Very cheap because these are all coming from Hong Kong. Love it! These dresses are not very Asian-ie as i like to say but they are very cute and i hope very comfortable! Usually Asian cloths are very cheap but usually the shipping is horribly expensive but all of these were FREE shipping! YAY!
Since these are coming from so far away they are going to take up to 3 weeks to get here. I can't wait!
Hopefully over time i can continue to buy more and more Asian clothing, so happy!

School Time With Anabel

Thursday, May 17, 2012

So i finally put a schedule together for myself. Things seem to be going fairly well. With that i have set some time aside for 'School/Art/Learning' for my Bell.

For the first few days we did some learning board games, puzzles and stickers. The one day we did play dough and drawing and today we did a little counting and tracing and singing the ABC song.

This is the first time i have ever seen her trace and this is what she did:

It was amazing i got her to do this since she was very hyper and didn't want to sit still or concentrate. I knew we needed to cut this time short today because of this. We might make cookies or something later for some learning time.

I have done quite a bit of read up on school for her age. We are going to concentrate on making it fun and not going to be to strict about it.

So far she loves 'school time' as i call it.

The other day i got her on her computer i have set up for her. She hasn't been on it in forever. i opened a drawing program and was surprised how well she was controlling the mouse. Before she was so confused about the mouse but yesterday she was guiding the mouse exactly where she wanted it. we would ask her to pick certain colors or shapes and she would guild the mouse right to it and click it. I was quite proud. Certainly seeing some improvement in hand eye coordination :)

Steampunk?

Monday, May 7, 2012

Ok so there is a chick who makes geeky shows on youtube, i became a fan a long time ago. Since then her career has exploded! She's been on several TV shows, she writes, produces and acts in her own online shows all of which i have really enjoyed.
Anyways her latest thing she is doing is a video blog where she does different things like smiting, chain saw stuffig and her latest was a photoshoot for steampunk fashion.

She had a little part in one of her youtube shows that had steampunk in it but i thought it was just something she came up with, i had no idea it was an actual 'thing' or even what it was.... still shady on what it actual is but i'm so digging the fashion!

The fashion is awesome, it's like victorian-modern with a hint of fantasy (or more like a lot).... i don't know but it is really playing with my fantasy loving obsession part of me.

Ok i looked it up, here is what wiki says about it:

Steampunk is a genre which came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s and incorporates elements of science fiction, fantasyalternate historyhorror, and speculative fiction. It involves a setting where steam power is widely used—whether in an alternate history such as Victorian era Britain or "Wild West"-era United States, or in a post-apocalyptic time —that incorporates elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology, or futuristic innovations as Victorians might have envisioned them, based on a Victorian perspective on fashionculturearchitectural style, and art. This technology includes such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or the contemporary authors Philip PullmanScott Westerfeld and China Mieville.

I think i want to sew some of this stuff... it so rocks! Here i will share some pictures with you so you can see what i mean :)

Isn't it awesome? Lots of lace, corsets, frills, strapping, awesome boots, goggles, clocks, gloves, gadgets... just cool!

Future Goals/Wants

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

I was looking through some of my stuff on my 'One Note' and found under 'Family' a section i had titled 'Future Goals/Wants'. It was a list of things with check boxes next to them. I felt so blessed as i read through them and was able to check off all of them but one. It was a list of goals and desires of things i hoped one day i would have.

How blessed am i for only after not quite 5 years of marriage God has blessed me with so much!

Here is my list:

  • Own our own House (checked off)
  • Have a family pet (checked off)
  • Have a garage for Bob's workshop (checked off)
  • Rooms for each kid (checked off)
  • Craft/Office space (checked off)
  • Island in Kitchen (checked off)
  • Pantry (checked off)
  • Actual laundry room (checked off)
        • well... it's not an actual room yet but it's worth being checked off
  • Big Yard (big enough :D ) (checked off)
  • Nice matching décor in my rooms

And these were fleshly wants... which means minor wants and unnecessary.
I guess that means i'm ready for a new list?

Thank you God for blessing my family! Giving us everything we need and then a ton more on top of that. You have supplied all our needs, given us an amazing place to call our home where we are making it our own, wonderful church family, and great friends. You always see us through the hard times and amaze me each time when you do it. Not sure how life could get much better. You are the best Daddy ever!
