Today Bob got the rest of the wood pieces cut for me. There is over a couple hundred there. It’s going to take quite awhile to get all these mod podged let alone all the magnets glued on!

Today i managed to finish mod podging the rest of the ‘Month’ pieces, got one group done, now on to the next! I can’t wait till i get onto the colorful ones and it’s a little more interesting LOL

Mother’s Day Garden

Sunday, June 16, 2013

So if you are my facebook friend you might have seen one of my status’ about how my father and sister in-law came down around mother’s day and brought plants and planted me a garden. I wasn’t getting to it because of having Matthew and things being crazy with a newborn.
It was such a blessing for them to do it!
Yesterday i spent the morning weeding because grass was growing all over from Bob putting the yard clippings in the beds as fertilizer all fall and spring.
I usually hate weeding but yesterday morning it was kinda fun. The morning was cooler then it had been and it was the perfect time to do it.
So this evening i went out and checked on the garden. I knew it didn’t need watering from all the watering i did yesterday and then last night it rained as well.
I took this time to put our tomato surrounds on the tomatoes since everything is growing like crazy.

Bed #1

This bed contains: (i think anyways, since i didn’t plant it and most this aren’t tagged I'm sorta guessing)
  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumber (the climbing thing in the back)
  • Rosemary
  • And i believe bell peppers

Bob noticed that bed #1 actually already had a few tomatoes on there. Wootness!

Tiny peppers. Dad said these are very hot…. don’t remember what they are called but the red ones look ready so i picked them. Dad said red or purple could be picked.

Bed #2

This bed contains:
  • Peppers
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Basil
  • Parsley
  • Oregano
  • Thyme
  • Squash
20130616_201804The one tomato plant in the tomato surround in the front left was started late from seed, from a little ‘Taco Garden’ started mom and dad had bought the girls. Dad didn’t think the tomatoes would go good from seed and planted from a tiny tinny sprout but looks like it is going great! Maybe i will try to plant tomatoes next year from seed?

Bed #3

This bed contains:
  • Peppers
  • Bush Beans
  • Tomatoes
  • Squash

Things are going good! Last year was so easy and fun, i hope this year is the same and things go well.
While i was also out there i sprayed all the plants down with my natural bug repellent, hope that helps.

Father’s Day 2013

The morning went rather smoothly since i got up at 6:30am. Had time to do my daily bible reading, play with Matthew while he was having some belly time before i went down stairs and got myself ready for church and before anyone else was awake.

After Anabel woke up I sent  her up to wake Bob with a picture she had made him and to announce breakfast was ready. Me and Anabel (since Abby was still asleep) had made pancakes and sausage.

At church it was my sunday to do the nursery. I had eight kiddos. It was a tad crazy but it went quickly.

Then after church i asked Bob what he wanted to do, if he wanted to go out for lunch then where… or if he wanted to go home. He decided that we go to Wal-Mart and pick up some stuff for a special dinner instead and that would be cheaper then going out to lunch. So we headed to the store.

Bob wanted to grill some hamburgers and brats. Then i got stuff to make my homemade buns because Bob wanted to use them as buns. We got some salad stuff and also a pizza for a quick lunch.

After lunch (the pizza was surprisingly good, it was a wal-mart brand pizza) the girls went for quiet time and me and bob sat down to watch the Pianist on Netflix.

Now i’m about to head into the kitchen to thaw the hamburger meat and start the bread.

it’s been a nice relaxing day. Hope our evening is just as good. Also hope Bob has enjoyed it.

Chore Chart (2)

Making of the ‘Month’ magnets for the charts.

Supplies:

  • Scissors
  • Mod Podge
  • Brush
  • Xacto Knife
  • Sand Paper
  • Lamination Paper
  • Wood Cut To Size
  • Months Printed on Paper

2013-06-15 17.21.53

2013-06-15 17.26.15

So i tried just mod podging the paper onto the wood but the ink on the paper started to smudge with the mod podge. So instead i laminated just the front on the paper and mod podged that onto the wood. I hope it holds up good. It looks nice laminated.

We still need to by super glue of some sort to glue the magnets on the back.

2013-06-15 17.28.56

I think i have done 7 so far and there is a total of 36 of just the months. Not to mention 93 of the dates of the month and 21 of the days of the week…. and that is just the beginning. TONS of little pieces. It’s going to take forever LOL especially since i only get my hands free (with no house work) very often. It will be nice once it’s all done though!

Genesis 1:1

We have been doing morning devotions and memory verses :)

Kids Chore Chart

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

I have for awhile now wanted to make each of the kids a chore chart. Me and Hubby put our heads together and thought up a plan. It will cover the child's daily routines, chores and activities where they can earn rewards by completing their daily duties.

Each child will have their our weekly routine chart. At the top will be the child's name, the name of the month followed by each day of the week and the date and beside it a list of daily routines they need to accomplish. Next to each routine is 7 boxes for each of the days and a field where they can place a square in it once that routine has been done that day.

Examples:

At the bottom of the routine chart will be an 'Activity' area where we can put certain magnets such as holidays, gymnastics, MOPS or birthdays which i can place on the correct day so they can know what activities will be happening that week.

Example:

This activity area will also be where they can place their reward activities they have earned and decide which day they want to do them on. Special activities we don't do everyday like: Go For A Walk, Go To The Park, 1 Movie Rental and Popcorn, 1 Movie At Theater, Bowling, Zoo Day, Sidewalk Chalk, Finger Painting. Each one you will have to earn a certain amount of points to earn. Some will be big prizes needing more points while others smaller and needing less points. This hopefully will help them learn how earning, spending and saving works. They will get a point for each chore they accomplish and if they finish their routines for the day.

For example:

We are making them out of metal so we can use thin wood to make the magnets. Hubby is hand making the frames for each of them and then we will paint them bright fun colors for each of the kid.

So we will have three charts, one for Anabel, Abby and Matthew (thinking ahead).

Then we will have a separate one for the 'To Do's' Of the day that each person needs to do. These are the added chores above what they normally have to do each day.

Example:

Bob also wanted a section for me and him so we could be a good example to the kids.

It will force me to be very organized!

Matthew

Saturday, June 8, 2013

So a few things....

If you have been around Matthew you might have heard the sounds he makes when breathing sometimes. I did some look up to see possible reasons for it. The closest i have found is:

Deep raspy sound: A blockage in the trachea (which is in the neck) makes a deep raspy sound during breathing. This sound is rarely due to a blockage, because the trachea is pretty big. More often, it is caused by a harmless condition called tracheomalacia, in which the tissues of the trachea are soft and flexible and make noise when the infant breathes in and out. This doesn't really cause significant trouble with breathing. This noise is louder when the infant is lying on his back and improves when he is upright.

Also i read this usually corrects it's self by 18-24 months of age.
Everything i looked into about asthma (which was the first thing that came to mind for noisy breathing) does not seem to be Matthews problem since all the symptoms/warnings signs are not what he is doing. So that's a good thing.
I haven't worried about this to much since he has never seemed to have trouble breathing, no gasping or anything, just loud when he breaths.

Did i mention he snores too? lol

Secondly:
Matthew has be quite the drooly baby for the last couple of weeks. I was noted commenting a week or so ago on my babyfit team about how Matthew has been biting me while nursing. Well tonight i was holding him and he found my arm. He sat there gnawing on my arm for sometime, drool everywhere, running down my arm and soaking his clothes. He seemed happy sitting there chewing on me, not like he was hungry which usually involves hyperventilating type grunting/crying.

So the thought jumped into my head 'Surely he's not teething already? He's only 8 weeks old!'. I looked it up and read typically teething starts about 3-12 months of age.
I mentioned this on my babyfit team to see what the other ladies had heard or thought about it. One lady said her pediatrician looks for teething at their 4 week appointment because babies can start that early.

I feel so unprepared for him to be teething this early, so i hope that is not what it is.

I felt like i was learning him pretty well and we were getting into a routine but the last couple of days his naps have become very short and he wants to stay awake almost all day it seems. He also has been stay awake quite late. The other day he was awake from 9 - past midnight. Last night he crashed about 11pm... tonight is earlier 10:40pm.

Learning New Things

Park and Crafts
6-8-13

This morning is usually when we bring Abby to the YMCA for gymnastics. Last Saturday we were to busy (that was the day the girls went to the circus with the grandparents and me and Bob went to the homeschooling expo) so needless to say we forgot to sign her up for gymnastics. Lots of people wait till the morning of the class so i called this morning and asked if they were doing it. I already had the girls ready to go and Abby in her leotard. The YMCA said that no one had signed up for the class so they were not having it and may not have it next week either. She took my number and said she would find out about next week and give me a call back. She called back soon after and said no Saturday morning class even for next week but i could sign up for the Monday morning class, so we did. BUT Abby was disappointed and so was Anabel because Anabel goes to the kids play around and she loves it. So to make up for it i got the bright idea of going to the park.

We went to the park next to the library and no one was there, it was so nice. The girls got to do a lot of things they don't normally get to do when it's just me and i have to hold Matthew and can't help them. Anabel learned how to do the monkey bars and this other thing which i have no clue what it is called and Abby was able to do the high ladder. They loved being able to conquer something new and i was so glad Daddy was there to be able to help them with it. I got some good videos of it:

Then later, after quiet time (since we did away with nap time) Abby did pass out next to me again so i took Anabel in the craft room to do some crafts. While we were at the park she had gathers some pine cones and i told her we could bring them home and make some crafts out of them, so that is what we did!

We made a 'Monster Superhero' from a picture i found online and then Anabel came up with the idea to make a lady bug, so of course we had to try.

Then she wanted to continue and make something else so i let her play with the foam beads. She wanted to make a necklace for church tomorrow.

Then after Abby woke up i brought her in and i did a pinecone craft with her as well.

Instead of a ladybug she wanted to do a dragon fly. She hated the flash on my phone when i took the picture LOL

Now the girls our down for bed and Matthew is asleep. It's been another good day :)

Fun Under the Umbrella

6-7-13

Since i wasn't able to use our beach umbrella the day we went to the lake like i had hoped, because it was to windy, i decided to use it for shade in our backyard. I think i may have had more fun laying under it then the girls did. It was nice outside, warm but not to hot with the since breeze.

The girls ran around the yard for the majority of the time we were out there so i got to lay under the umbrella and just relax. A little bit into it Bob brought out Matthew to me who had awoken and was hungry. After he got his tummy full he to enjoyed the shade and Abby came over to keep him company for quite awhile. I was able to get some great shots of Matthew smiling at Abby as she played next to him. He loves his sisters!

 Me chillin' and relaxin

 I adore his smile!

Literally 10 minutes after we came inside Abby fell asleep on my arm and it was probably 5 minutes after that that we noticed Anabel was asleep on Daddy also.

Matthew followed soon after :)
